A total of $4590.83 was raised on Thursday, April 7, all of which has been donated directly to beyondblue as a part of the organisation’s Bash initiative - where individuals, community groups and businesses are encouraged to host events and raise funds throughout the year.
We chose to put a spin on our event, inviting a number of Dubbo’s familiar faces to enter their best baked goods in a bid to walk away with the Golden Whisk.
Why A Bake Off?
Of all the fundraising ideas possible, you’re probably wondering why we chose a Bake Off?
Cooking and sharing the joy of the final product can be a great positive experience, and is recognised as an act that can contribute to good mental health and mental illness recovery. We also know that, particularly in rural areas, some of the most important conversations happen over a cup of tea and a piece of cake.
How Did The Day Pan Out?
The Big Blue Bake Off wouldn’t have been possible without the participation from our talented bakers.
Our judges, Leanne O’Sullivan, Big Blue Digital, Faye Wheeler, Daily Liberal and Adam Russo, Russo’s Coffee Bar, had their work cut out for them with a table of delicious baked goods just waiting to be tasted.
While the day was all about raising awareness and funds to improve mental health services in NSW, all eyes were on the Golden Whisk and other prizes.
