We’re all for giving praise when it’s due here at Big Blue Digital, especially when it’s to a regional event which has been successfully running for 66 years.
The Young Shire Council celebrated their annual Cherry Festival from December 4 to December 6.
Traditionally the height of the cherry picking season, this event showcases the humble Cherry which has been a part of the Young Shire for more than 150 years.
This year’s festival has been hailed “the best one yet” by residents and local media outlets.
The Cherry Festival celebrates all things good about the ravishing red fruit, complete with market stalls, a parade, a Cherry Pie eating contest and Cherry Pip Spit contest. While the Cherry Festival is a base for celebrating the season and harvest, it also celebrates a strong sense of pride within the town of Young.
Big Blue Digital had the privilege of working with Young Shire Council to build and publish their current website which was launched in November 2015. Young Shire Council and Big Blue Digital created a new online space, both fresh and appealing for website visitors and most importantly, device responsive to provide the user with the information they need quickly and easily…just in time for this year’s Cherry Festival!
The new responsive design of the site enabled festival goers to find out all the information they needed for their cherry experience from their mobile – discovering all the relevant information the festival had to offer.
The colour palate for the website, red and white, displays a strong connection to the culture of the region and in particular to the annual Young Cherry Festival, which residents would say “puts Young on the map”.
We’ve loved working with the team at Young Shire Council to produce a manageable website with clear content and a fresh feel and we hope one day we’ll be able to make it down to Young for the Cherry Festival.
