We are all for innovation at Big Blue Digital.
We live and breathe it within our business and we love to see how our clients innovate to stand out in their chosen industries and boost their return on investment.
One of our ag-industry clients, Davimac, bases their entire business on constant innovation and improvement, having recently demonstrated changes in their production and assembly practices to reduce production time by more than 50%!
Davimac is becoming a household name in agricultural manufacturing. Since 1982, their machines have helped farmers throughout Australia sow and harvest some of our most important crops, so improving their designs to optimise farming practices is vital to building and maintaining their reputation.
Until recently, orders placed for Davimac seed drills had a 6 to 8 week turnaround, but thanks to some strategic vision and a team committed to change, this figure has dropped to 2 to 3 weeks.
Over the last three weeks, the Davimac team have gone from building one seed drill every two-and-a-half-days, to meeting their target of one per day. This is a result of the team designing and implementing realistic strategies that work for the whole team.
More specifically, Davimac have implemented LEAN manufacturing principles and increased their manufacturing capacity through improved project planning to better manage their workflow and meet their targets.
This new system also helps the team identify any potential problems well in advance.
The Davimac team now has 20 employees, who are also being trained to develop new skills in order to meet the strategic vision of the business.
This isn’t the limit for the Davimac team, who are continually innovating; striving to improve their own products and practices to stay at the forefront of their industry. We look forward to seeing them at the field days in 2016 with the latest in farm technology.
